Our Activities

The aim of Explorer Scouts is to provide a flexible and active scouting programme for adolescents, with an emphasis on personal challenge and adventure.

The Unit is based at Merton Park HQ but is formally part of the whole District.  Many Explorer Scouts have come from different Scout Groups, and the Unit is growing in size.

Go to our resources pages to find out where you can buy the uniform, where to sew the badges, how to fold the scarf, and other useful information.

How much does it cost?

There is a membership subscription of £20 per term.  This money goes toward providing badges, materials and equipment used during our meetings, refreshments, rental costs and  insurance cover when undertaking activities.

Actitivies and Badges

The Explorer Scout section follows on from the scouts section.   Amongst other things it runs a Young Leader programme which provides support for the junior sections.

Explorer Scouts are able to attain the Queen's Scout Award, which is the highest Scouting Award in The Scout Association. There are also a number of activity and skill badges which can be awarded to the young people upon meeting requirements in a variety of disciplines.
